Transfer to the general public
Events
The Institute of African Studies and Egyptology offers a wide range of formats and content for various audiences and target groups, including those outside the university. We regularly organise sessions for the Children’s University as well as for primary and secondary school pupils, covering general knowledge about the world and everything that curious young people might find interesting about Africa. We also offer taster sessions for A-level students, and are happy to accommodate requests for specific topics. Our programmes for older pupils also include work placements at the Institute and the organisation of project weeks.
In the city of Cologne (and beyond), we are available for small exhibitions, media appearances and lectures, e.g. on colonial history, cultural heritage or tourism (e.g. Ballermann). We also offer advisory support in the areas of integration and post-school education.
We look forward to hearing from you! Please contact our secretariat as your first point of contact; they will forward your enquiry to the Institute’s members.
