Library Egyptology

The library of Egyptology is only a reference library, there is no lending. Books and journals can be accessed and read during the opening hours of the business office.

Lending African Studies

Please pre-order books by e-mail, indicating author's name, book title and shelfmark (letter/number combination in the KUG next to the location information of the "Afrikanistik Bibliothek") !
Collection and return during opening hours:

Monday 12-16 h, Tuesday to Thursday 10-14 h

Unfortunately, the workplaces in the Institute are not available until further notice.

In the KUG, all media of the Library of African Studies show that they are only reference stock. But this is wrong, most of the books can be borrowed!

Since the books in the institute are distributed in different rooms, it is unfortunately not possible to browse the shelves for books and to view the books independently. Please use USB to research the shelfmark of the particular book you want to view or borrow, and the library staff will retrieve it from the rooms for you.
